How to import SWF to Final Cut Pro for editing SWF on Mac

Final Cut Pro is a non-linear video editing software developed by Macromedia Inc. and then Apple Inc. The most recent version, Final Cut Pro X, runs on Mac personal computers powered by Mac OS X version 10.6.7 or later and using Intel processors. The software allows users to log and capture video onto a hard drive (internal or external), where it can be edited, processed, and output to a wide variety of formats. 

Final Cut Pro provides non-linear, non-destructive editing of any QuickTime compatible video format including DV, HDV, P2 MXF (DVCProHD), XDCAM, and 2K film formats.

On June 21, 2011, Apple released a new version of Final Cut Pro, renamed to “Final Cut Pro X”, heavily based on iMovie (leading some users to call it “iMovie Pro”). Described as a complete rewrite of the original application.

However, Mac users can not edit Flash SWF files with FCP. So the best way is to import SWF to FCP by converting FCP supported MP4, MOV, etc as below.

Q1: Importing SWF files

Can anyone suggest how I import an animation, an SWF file, into FCP…I presume I need to convert it….but any suggestions…what to convert it to and what software to use?

Q2: SWF files now not working

I had included some .swf animations I had created in Adobe Photoshop/ImageReady. Now all those .swf files are not being recognized by FCP and I’m unable to import any more.

I download the free trial and found it’s very easy to use, and can convert SWF animation clips to FCP support SWF to MP4 Mac, MOV and DV, etc. Then you can import Flash SWF files to Final Cut Pro for editing.
